Transient and Water Hammer Analyses in Piping Lines (Advanced)
The main purpose of this course is to model pressure surge and to calculate pressure changes and water hammer loads in a piping system due to valve closing/opening, pump start-up/shutdown, etc. with computer programs. Moreover how quickly a valve is closed or calculation of moment of inertia of pumps to mitigate effects of fluid surge on piping systems and induced stresses in piping and pipe supports will be discussed. Also other parameters effective on water hammer loads such as flow rate, friction, pipe diameter, material, etc. will be comprehensively discussed. This class is intended for engineers who are involved with such issues in power plants and/ or petrochemical industries.
