Pitting Corrosion and Hydrogen Induced Cracking Assessment
The main purpose of this course is to evaluate metal loss resulting from pitting, hydrogen induced cracking (HIC), and blisters. These flaws and defects can result in component failure. So it is important that designer assesses the flaws and answers whether the damaged component is fit to continue operation until the next inspection period or it should be repaired, retired, or replaced. The main parameters for evaluation of such defects and required remediation to mitigate side effects of them will be discussed.
