Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Assessment

This course provides the foundation knowledge required for visual inspection of asset integrity threats due to corrosion under insulation and provides a guide to managing the risk in onshore and offshore facilities to prevent the extra costs incurred by owners of industries. This course describes how CUI occurs, why it is important, and where we look at. Moreover, the mechanism of CUI, consequences of a CUI failure, life cycle of such a corrosion, and likelihood assessment model of a CUI will be described. In addition, signs of such a corrosion, the potential locations of CUI, remedial actions, strategies for controlling them, how to mitigate the future risk of CUI, and using advanced NDT techniques will be discussed.
