Brittle Fracture Analysis and Derivation of Pressure-Temperature Limit Curve
This course aims to analyze the brittle fracture and develop Pressure-Temperature curve for sensitive and important to safety pressure vessels and components. Whether a stressed component is needed to conduct further analysis and test or not will be presented in this course. Heat-up and cool down of some components should be performed based on a permitted instruction to prevent from brittle fracture of the component. This is because many petroleum and chemical processes that undergo this type of assessment for brittle fracture were originally designed for substantially warmer temperatures, above the temperature range where the probability of brittle fracture is of concern. A review of applicable standards to carry out such analyses and testes will be discussed.
