Engineering and Consulting Services: Piping Stress Analysis
ACE carries out pipe stress analysis of new and/ or existing facilities. The analyses performed take into account the common loading conditions applied to piping and/or more complicated loading conditions requiring in-depth analysis (including surge, water hammer, frequency, harmonic loads, etc.) The scope of services is as follows:
- Develops engineering documents such as specifications
- Performs stress analysis
- Reviews piping design report to be consistent with design specification
- Checks input data, calculations, results, and makes needed recommendations
- Verifies that piping stresses are within the code allowable limits (ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3)
- Verifies that piping loads on fixed equipment are within the code allowable limits
- Verifies that piping loads on rotary equipment are in accordance with appropriate standards and specifications like API 610, NEMA-23, etc.
- Designs rigid and spring supports and verifies the stress components of structures are within a safe margin
- Equipment modeling in piping stress analysis and calculation of nozzle stiffness
- Calculates piping natural frequencies
- Calculates allowable deflections in various operating conditions
- Calculates thermal movements
- Evaluates piping flexibility with “Piping Flexibility Check” (Developed by ACE)
- Evaluates Leakaging Flange
- Performs transient loads and water hammer analysis (Refer to the “Transient Loads and Pressure Surge Analysis” service)
- Evaluates piping vibration analysis, if needed (Refer to the “Piping Vibration Analysis” service)
- Conducts fatigue analysis based on ASME Sec. VIII Div.2 (Refer to the “Fatigue and Fracture Analysis” service)
- Evaluates seismic and wind loads based on ASCE 07
- Conducts fracture analysis of pressure vessel based on ASME criteria (Refer to the “Fatigue and Fracture Analysis” service)
- Conducts high level of detail needed to analyze accurately to predict piping stresses and piping loads and solve piping problems
If piping stresses and/or loads on connected equipment exceed their allowable limits, recommendations will be made to reduce the overloaded components to acceptable limits.
